As Barcelona’s gorgeous Cotton House Hotel prepares to re-open, I asked its PR & Marketing Manager Laura Garcia Guardans to answer 10 quick questions about this very beautiful and special destination. (Travellers take note: the restaurant and terrace will reopen June 17 and the hotel will welcome guests starting July 1.)
What did you miss most about The Cotton House?
Seeing my work family! We normally have meetings at 9am on most days where we talk about what’s happening that day, what we should be on the lookout for, any special requests that have been made… and it’s a great way to kick off the day.
Best compliment you’ve received from a guest?
Whenever I hear that it’s the best service they have ever received by far, I’m thrilled. Hearing that they’ve never met such friendly staff definitely comes second! To be honest, it’s always unbeatable whenever a guest goes out of his or her way to get back to you to compliment the staff in any way.
Favourite meal at Batuar?
Chef Albert’s long, fine spaghetti with seabass ragout.
You’re at the Library Bar – what are you having?
A soothing Sans & Sans Isfahan tea.
Your go-to spa treatment?
The Heavenly Cotton Massage – I love aromatherapy!
Favourite room?
The Cotton Room. The balcony overlooking the traditional Eixample patio for me is the perfect place to understand what Barcelona is like, and being able to have a glass of wine in your own private terrace is always a plus.
Most eccentric request?
Haha! There are too many and we love them all!
What’s one thing people might not know about The Cotton House?
The Cotton House used to be the building where the Cotton Guild would meet and work – it’s not just a name we came up with! There’s a lot of tradition and history within the hotel, and we always try to convey this to our guests by giving them a tour during their stay.
You can’t visit Barcelona and not…
…..have a drink on our lovely terrace. Although we’re located in the heart of the city, once you step into the Cotton House it seems like you’re going back in time and you’re suddenly in the midst of a calm oasis. And make sure to put aside a morning or afternoon to stroll around the El Borne area. It’s one of the oldest neighborhoods in Barcelona and its narrow, cobblestone streets and quite plazas convey the true essence of the city.
Describe The Cotton House in five words.
Historical, stylish, luxurious, experiential, unique.
